OOTD: A VERY PASTEL MEMORIAL DAY

May 25, 2015

There's the whole "white after Labor Day" baloney, however, what about pastel and Memorial Day? Should pastel only live between the strict weeks between Easter and Memorial Day? Or is it a summer staple? With bright colors of all hues being embraced this season and seasons past, why should we let a time of year restrict what we can wear?

I thought I'd play with different shades of my favorite color - blue - and my favorite metal - gold - for this look. I'm obsessed with this scalloped blue crop top from TopShop, and equally as obsessed with these mediterranean sandals from Payless.

These embroidered high waisted shorts from Forever 21 add a mix of texture. I tied in the mix of blue and gold with my gold elephant bracelet, my blue bracelet from Greece, and various Alex and Anis.

Makeup was simple today with just lotion, highlighter, blush, eyeliner, mascara, and a pink lip.

Crop Top: TopShop
Shorts: Forever 21
Sandals: Payless
Bracelets: Alex & Ani, Boutique shops
Lips: Covergirl

What are you up to this weekend? I did a mix of fun things: a concert, a red sox game, cookouts, and running. A good time with friends and family. It was a good time to relax before diving head into the internship/work life during the week again.

REVIEW: REFRESH VOXBOX

February 18, 2015

Don't you just love free stuff? The other day, I went down to the mailroom only expecting a Valentines' package from my mother, however I was pleasantly surprised to also see a packed from my good friends at Influenster! I've always wanted to get a monthly subscription, so when I saw that this box was full of a bunch of treats for me to test, I was thrilled. Happy V-Day to me!

The theme of this box if the "Refresh" VoxBox. It's full of stuff that I actually really need right now before Lent. This Lent, I'm going vegan. I want to refresh my tastebuds and mind back into my healthy mode. I still consider myself a "health nut",  however I feel like being at school without a kitchen, and just time have taken me away from my strict, healthy, paleo path I was on my senior year of high school. I figure if I stick to this "vegan" life for a while, everything else will seem like second nature after lent. I want to feel lighter and detoxed. The items in this box are designed to refresh your whole body: food, mouth, and face.

Beanitos Chips: #allthatandabagofchips
These chips are gluten-free and protein packed, because they're made from chips! I received the cheese and the restaurant style. I'm a little wimpy when it comes to spice, so the cheese flavor was a bit spicy for me, however they were still super addicting. I couldn't believe this isn't your typical tortilla chip. I'll definitely be repurchasing - especially for the protein. I'll need it because I'm going vegan for lent!

Skinnygirl Dark Chocolate Tasty Nutrition Bar #skinnygirlXinfluenster
Before I got this, I thought Skinnygirl only made alcohol, so I was pleasantly surprised to get this! I'm so glad they sent me a dark chocolate pretzel flavor, too. It's like they know the key to my heart!
I would definitely repurchase this bar because it was filling and delicious. Again, it will save me during my veganism for lent!

Covergirl Ultrasmooth Foundation: #UltraSmooth
This foundation did a fabulous job of covering my blemish-y, spotty, uneven complexion. No wonder they call this line "cosmetics-meets-skincare."

L'OCCITANE Shea Butter Comforting Cream: #ineedshea
This stuff is perfect to use right after the shower. My face is always a bad combination of red, hot, and dry after the shower. This cream did the trick to make it better! The only thing that I'm not a fan of is the baby powder smell. It wasn't a pleasant surprise.

Montagne Jeunesse Face Masques: ##MJPeelOffs
I've used similar products to this before, so I was excited when I saw this face mask! I'm always down for a good face mask. This one's "flavor" is honey, so it looks, feels, and smells like actual honey! After about 10 minutes, I could feel the mask was ready to be peeled off. It left my skin feeling soft and cleansed! A little honey goes a long way.

Enjoying my face mask! You can see the yellow coloring on my face.

LISTERINE Pocket Bacs: #ListerinePocketBacs
I got a little bit of nostalgia when I saw these! I remember perpetually carrying these around in my first ever coach wristlet, when I was in 7th grade. I would carry that, cash, scrunchies, and my coin purse. Oh, the days before  having to carry car keys, license, compacts, and cell phones. I always like to have these handy, they're an essential.

DenTek Fun Flossers:
These are like your typical flossers but they're flavored! The berry flavor was a nice twist.

DenTek Comfort Clean Floss Picks:
I was so grateful to see these because the last time I went to the dentist, my gums bled everywhere because they were sensitive from not flossing enough. My dentist basically scolded me (oops). Thanks for saving me from a scolding from my dentist, DenTek!

All products were sent to me complimentary for testing purposes, thanks to Influenster.

Ipsy Glam Girl

June 25, 2013

I've always been ever so jealous of fashion bloggers and makeup gurus who get sent their various boxes  - where it be Pop Sugar Boxes or Ipsy Glam Bags. Well, I finally did it. Today I went to ipsy.com and signed up, and took the survey. I've subscribed to the monthly glam bags and can't wait to start blogging about my monthly finds! Not only is it a site where you can get seamlessly free beauty products, but you can upload and share your looks with fellow fashionistas. If you haven't made your way over to ipsy.com, do it!

In the mean time, check out my first look I posted on Ipsy.com. I'm currently on a family vacation in Hawaii, and today I attended a fun-packed Luau. My outfit was obviously Luau appropriate - a mix of beachy and tribal and trendy.

This is a look I wore to a Luau in Hawaii. Top from Charlotte Russe, skirt from Faded Glory, sandals from Forever 21, bracelets from PacSun and Pandora. Bag from Pacsun.
My hair was in a topknot, with a braid.
I highlighted the pink tones in the look with my makeup.
I mixed lotion and bb cream, and applied to my face with a makeup sponge.
I mattified it with VS powder.
I applied my dream bouncy blush to my cheeks and used my bare minerals blending brush to blend.
On my lids, i used a light brown, the crease was a plum, and i highlighted it with a light pink all from a forever 21 pallet.
I just applied benefit's nasty gal mascara to both lashes and filled my eyebrows in.
my lips is kate moss for revlon's light pink lipstick.

I'm itching equally as much to walk across the boat (that's how we do it at Dracut) with my diploma in hand. It only means bigger and better things for me, and I hope to have blogging as a part of my future. What I'm doing here is just the building blocks of my career and I'm glad for all the continued support. Enough with the sappy stuff, down to business now. Here's my Prom 2013 tutorial on how to do my hair and makeup.

REVIEW: KATE MOSS FOR RIMMEL LONDON

March 30, 2013

Besides Physician's Formula, Rimmel London has to be my absolute favorite drugstore/ nonexpensive makeup brand. Perhaps my obsessions with all things British heavily adds to this, however Rimmel's dedication to providing quality makeup for an affordable prices keeps me going back for more. It's perfect for when I don't have the funds to splurge on Benefit or Urban Decay but need a quality makeup product!

On Friday, I recently cashed my paycheck and I guess I figured, what better way to celebrate Jesus dying on the cross for us than some makeup shopping? That sounded horrible, but oh well. The point is I walked into CVS with a 2$ off any Rimmel product coupon and a 20 % off my entire purchase coupon. I came out far from empty handed - with some gorgeous teal/mint "Spoiled" nail polish, some trail mix, and a Rimmel creamy eyeshadow pencil - all for just about $12! However, the goal of the trip was to find a nice cheery shade of pink lipstick for the musical next weekend.

So, I promised myself I'd scope out the new ULTA that opened right next to my work before I went in for my shift. I walk in, and it's Sephora x 10, my own personal heaven. It was like a kid in a candy store, but instead of gum balls and lollipops painted on the walls, Benefit, Salon, and Bare Minerals were plastered on the walls and got my heart racing. I looked all around for the perfect bright pink for my lips for the spring and the musical, but unfortunately I mostly found things out of my price range. However I was pleased to find a whole section of drugstore brands such as Maybelline and Revlon, and I came across my good ol' favorite Rimmel. The Kate Moss for Rimmel caught my eye!

The adorable packaging caught my eye. It has a black base and a red top with a royal crown on it - I felt like a princess! The color was exactly what I was looking for - a light, but bright champagne-y pink perfect for spring/summer. Somewhere between a nude and pink lip.

The name of it is "long-lasting lip color." I used it today when I went to dinner with Andrew and his family. The color goes on and stays on very well, and it lasts as long as you're not doing any heavy lifting. The color itself will stay on your lips through eating and drinking, but the product itself will not. It's not a drying color, it goes on smooth. Since the color goes on, you'll only need to reapply Chapstick if you feel so inclined. It's infused with black diamonds, so it reflects light beautifully; however it's conveniently matte. Pair it with a bright cheek and highlighted eye (creamy eyeshadow) for an easy everyday spring look!

The above color shown is the one I have. It's 102 Mid-tone pink. It may not be the "longest lasting" as advertised however for the price of $5.49 it's a great buy! The range of colors will fit anyone's needs. I think it's a great staple to begin your spring lip collection with, as well as a great base for any lip gloss. Check it out - here's me rocking it!
