September is the time for new beginnings! It's almost as much of a fresh start as the New Year. That's because for me, at least, it's the new Academic Year. So all my goals are going to be academic-related mostly. Enjoy and good luck with your goals this month! Stay cool and avoid the heat wave!

How This works:

  2. Write up a post recapping last month's goals and setting goals for next month.
  3.  Make sure to include the button in your post by grabbing the code above.
  4. Link up your goals post with the monthly linky which goes live on the first Thursday of the month.
  5. Visit other links in the party to show support and offer advice for other goal setters.
  6. Have fun and make some new friends!

MONTHLY LINK-UP: JULY GOALS

July 01, 2015

Monthly Goals

This is part of the monthly link-up at mysocalledchaos.com

The word I would use to describe this summer is balance. I feel a good balance between time with friends, work, internship, running, family, adventures, and relaxing. The improvement on my life as a whole compared from last summer to this one is like night and day. However, even though things are going swimmingly, I'm also looking to improve. I'm always looking for my next adventure to conquer. That's why I keep myself accountable for the steps!

How This works:
  1. Follow your hosts My So-Called Chaos and A Peek at Karen's World to keep up with this link-up.

May Goals

  • Get up to 35 mile weeks of running 31....
  • Decorate the walls of my room - inspiration board - fail
  • Work with a brand - Success
  • Go into my internship twice a week - Success
  • Post on here twice a week - Success
  • Get under 24 in the 5K 26:36
Instead of smooth green sailing, May had some flashes of yellow and red. However, most things are a work in progress. 35 is so so close to 31. 2 minutes of a 5K in a hot, hot day is alright. I still got third in my age group and team roger, and supported a great cause. Months like these can teach us to spin our perceived losses in a positive light.

June Goals

  • Run a 10 mile run
  • Finish the Sarah Dessen book
  • Make your inspiration board
  • Work with more brands
  • Make a bonus sale at work

Let's hope July is as promising as June was!

MONTHLY LINK-UP: MAY GOALS

May 06, 2015

Monthly Goals

This is part of the monthly link-up at mysocalledchaos.com

Goals definitely aren't my top priority right now. I just finished two huge projects and papers, another paper, and another project. I just have one final left. Basically, everything is wrapping up for the school year and I'm what you would call "burnt out." I've been focusing on relaxing and rejuvenating myself this weekend. I'm mentally checked out, however I'm content with myself for picking up my grades from earlier in the semester and finishing strong.
However, now when one door closes, a window opens. This window is summer. I plan on relaxing, running, working, blogging, traveling, and catching up with all of my friends this summer. I've definitely noticed that my blog has not been my main focus these past few weeks, however, I'm ready to focus on it again. Here are my goals based around all of that!

How This works:
  1. Follow your hosts My So-Called Chaos and A Peek at Karen's World to keep up with this link-up.

  • Conduct all your research for both of your research projects SUCCESS! FINALLY!

Monthly Link-Up: March Goals!

March 03, 2015

Monthly Goals

As every month goes by, I'm more and more surprised at the speed that life flows. It feels like November was only yesterday. I don't know about your life, but mine has been ever-changing this year. One of my mottos, besides "life begins at the end of your comfort zone" is that the only constant in life is change. Change, to me, is good. Change means growth in all genres of the word. Change means finding yourself a little bit more every day. At least during all of these changes in my life, a constant that I can have are these monthly link-ups! Goal setting and tracking is a great way to measure milestones, no matter their size. Let's see what this month will bring!

How This works:
  1. Follow your hosts My So-Called Chaos and A Peek at Karen's World to keep up with this link-up.

  6. Have fun and make some new friends!
Febuary was definitely more successful than January. The "yikes 2k15" factor of the year throwing curveballs in my face has settled down. Now, I've got a few good things lined up for the rest of my year, and I'm ready to keep kicking ass! If I had one hashtag to describe my life, it would be #GirlBoss. It's so empowering. Now, if this cold and sinus inflammation would dissipate, I'd be totally back on track

Febuary Goals

  • Hit 1500 Uniques Success! And 55 over goal.
  • Make connections at conference Success! Got many business cards
  • Win the challenge at conference almost...
  • Stay on top of hybrid courses I'd say success
  • Have a successful internship interview Had to cancel, but landed another internship in the State h]House soooo success!
  • Start going to SurfSet once a week Success!

            March Goals
            • Treat this cold and sinus pressure so it goes away before spring break
            • Stay on top of grades
            • Call home more often
            • 1600 uniques
            • Put more hours in at work
            • Gym 5 times a week
            • Keep my room more clean
            • Post twice a week
            What are your March Goals?

            January Goals

            February 05, 2015

            Monthly Goals

Most people think of love, valentines candy, and flowers when the think of February. As of recent, I will not have a "valentine" this year. Honestly, I feel so refreshed. I've spent the past two Valentines days with someone and as awesome and wonderful relationships are, and as my friends have told me, this is my prime time to be "single." On the practical end, it saves me a ton of money (besides for the money I'll spend on candy for myself). It also saves a lot of time getting ready and going out (besides the time spent with my GALentines). I've learned the important of friends and family as opposed to loved ones these past few months. Its such a great feeling to embrace my real support system.

February may be a short month, but there's still so much to accomplish in it! As I mentioned in my previews goals post, I said that I wanted to really hunker down and be productive on my blog and internships. I've definitely started making moves towards that, but the four snow days we had in the past two weeks have warranted more fun than work. I figure while I'm young, balance out the work and the play as best as I can, right? Below are my monthly goals!

This is part of the monthly link-up at mysocalledchaos.com

            How This works:
            1. Follow your hosts My So-Called Chaos and A Peek at Karen's World to keep up with this link-up.
            2. Write up a post recapping last month's goals and setting goals for next month.

            6. Have fun and make some new friends!
Here were my January Goals. How did I do?

            January Goals
            • Make the deans list - Success
            • Put up a good fight for the thing I can't discuss on here yet.. :P - Yeah, not going so well. The thing I couldn't discuss was the cutting of the cross country program.
            • Throw Ashley a fun and successful birthday party - The snow stopped it :(
            • Finish "Women in Clothes" - haaa....
            • Hit 2,000 unique hits this month - Almost...
            • Follow up on internship applications - Success! Got an interview.

I'm Inspired By... (12x30 Love Yourself January Challenge)

            January 17, 2015

12X30 Challenge January: The Love Yourself Challenge

I think the New Year is a great time to remind yourself to love yourself. Making resolutions can come with a connotation to hate something about yourself so much that you want to change it. I've seen this show negative on others' self-esteem way too many times year-round. Instead of self-depreciating, we should just love ourselves. Love yourself like someone who loves you, well, loves you.

I got this challenge from My So-Called Chaos, and I knew I had to do it! The challenge this month is to do things that promote looking at yourself in a loving light. One step was to use one of the blogging prompts "I'm inspired by.."

I felt a bit of lack of inspiration lately in my writing, so I figured this prompt would be a great way to rev that back up.

            Seeing how others live
When I travel, even if its a few towns over, just seeing how others live inspires me. Where is there local grocery store? What is the biggest, closest city? What do people do for work? I put myself in their place, and compare my life and theirs. It puts my own life in perspective.

            Dreaming
Don Draper on Mad Men said, "If you need an idea, just stop thinking about it, then after a while, think about it again." The same works for me with dreaming. My best notions and ideas come to me from my dreams.

            Nature
Hikes, walking, running, sightseeing, kayaking, canoeing, you name it. I'm inspired that God and science put in place such a natural, beautiful cycle that has created wonders for us to feast our eyes on. In nature, no one worries. Something is destroyed so in a few million more years, something even more beautiful can spring up in its place.

            Music lyrics
I like to listen to lyrics that are sad and deep. I'm not sure why, but sad music makes me happy. It lifts me up.

            Listening to others' stories
Just listening to someone telling either a story or of a problem they're having inspires me. Like above, it puts my life in perspective.

            My dreams
This time, by dreams, I mean goals. Sometimes I think about where I want my life to go, mostly in the shower, and then I get this little fire burning inside of me. The fire wants me to do this and this and this and that and this just to get my life on track.

That's what inspires me. What inspires you? Here's a list from Angie of ways to truly love yourself this year:

            • Compliment yourself.
            • Practice your passion.
            • Pamper yourself.
            • Stop comparing yourself to others.
            • Reward yourself for your accomplishments.
            • Take a little extra time on your appearance.
            • Start a Self-Love journal.
            • Take your daily vitamins.
            • Exercise.
            • Let go of the past and focus on the future.
            • Give yourself a pep talk and believe in yourself.
            • Laugh at yourself.
            • Be less judgmental of others.
            • Stop being a people pleaser.

              Monthly Link-Up: OCTOBER GOALS

              October 02, 2014

Happy first day of October! It's a special first of the month here in Salem for me, because I'm in... Salem! For all of you who didn't know, I go to school in the heart of Halloween. The historic witch trials occurred here in the 1600s. Ever since that ended, Salem has been associated with all things haunted. All month long  parades, festivals, haunted houses, and more are held. It's a great place to be for Halloween, of course. What better inspiration for me to accomplish my goals?
