STYLE: WINTER IS COMING OOTD

November 20, 2014

You know when an outfit just comes together? That's what happened today. When I think winter, other than freezing snow, I think of flannels, sweaters, boots, and socks. It's no coincidence that all of those things are in this outfit. It's time in Massachusetts to start breaking out all of these items. We had our first snowfall/flurry few weeks ago, and these next few days bear six feet of snow for upstate New York and flurries for us here in MA.
I'd say my style is a mix of boho/trendy/indie. Sometimes in the winter I can go a bit more preppy. However, I don't have any button-downs, so my little bit of pop punk came out in the flannel I chose to wear under the sweater.

Sweater: Forever 21
Flannel: Savers (thrifted)
Leggings: Express
Socks: Payless
Boots: JustFab
Bag: Michael Kors
Bracelets: Alex & Ani, Pandora, and Cape Cod.

My arm candy was highlighted by the sweater over the flannel - wrist candy turned to arm candy.

Ever since I put this outfit on I've been poppin' my collar.

Fall essentials - riding boots, legwarmers, and MK.

Thanks to my lovely roommate Amanda for taking these pictures!

STYLE: TRANSITIONING INTO FALL

October 17, 2014

Fall means different things for different regions. Here in New England, it's usually a mix of balmy, freezing, and crisp temperatures with shortening days, pumpkins, apples, and the most breathtaking foliage in the US.

Salem-Marblehead Harbor from the lead mills bike path.

Lately, however, the weather has been more indecisive than me at a buffet. Last week was pretty much all cold days, this week it's going to look like summer. What does this weather call for outfit wise? Tights, cardigans, boots, dresses, scarves, aka layering pieces.

Dress - TopShop
Cardigan - Forever 21
Socks - Forever 21
Tights - Forever 21
Boots - Doc Martens

While picking out this outfit, I felt like focusing on three things: layering, fall neutrals, and comfort.
I think I succeeded on all my goals, right?

Don't mind the face... wind a sun...

The comfort of the cardigan was heavenly, and it added a texture difference in the outfit between the smooth dress and the course-looking cardigan.

These colors may be different however I think they all work together,

TELL ME: What are your favorite pieces to layer with in the fall?

LIFESTYLE: BACK TO SCHOOL HAUL

September 02, 2014

After scattered shopping trips here and there with some online shopping thrown in, I've finally accumulated my "back to school" pieces. I'm so excited to start the fall off in a warm, boho vibe. I've stocked up on some prints and some statement pieces, and have updated some fall staples that have gone limp in my closet. Let's dig into my new wardrobe!

(from right) Cream cardigan: Marshalls
Grey Cardigan: Charming Charlie
Navy and White Blazer: White House Black Market

The cream cardigan is chunky, easygoing, trendy, and effortless for fall. The grey cardigan is long and sleeveless. With these two together, I get the best of both trends. I love the stretchiness of the blue and white blazer; I also needed more business-casual pieces in my wardrobe.

Chevron tunic: Charming Charlie
Blue Scallop Crop Top: Topshop
Paisley Lace Tank Top:  Marshalls

I've been dying to find a good tunic, and this one from Charming Charlie is perfect!

 Geometric Pants: H&M
Cropped Galaxy Workout Pants: Marshalls

I love these comfy geometric pants that are oh so colorful, and the comfy and cool workout crops!

For more details about the clothes, watch my Youtube video about the haul!

STLYE: FIRST DAY OF CLASS OOTD

August 21, 2014

Crisp new clothes, crisp new notebooks, new professors, interesting classes; it's back to school time! Other than your planner, the best way to be prepared for a new semester is a rockin' new outfit. Class-wear should be comfy but also stylish. It's acceptable to be comfy in yoga leggings in Febuary, but on the first day of class, don't we want to start off with the right look? I know I do.

I talked with a stylish from Keaton Row Amber Brown (who is AMAZING by the way), and she recommended leather shorts for the transition between summer and fall. It's the best of both worlds - leather for the cold weather and shorts for the warm. I based my first day of class OOTD around that and these amazing patent leather chunky white sandals from TopShop

This outfit is comfy, stylish, versatile, and trendy. The two basic pieces, the blue t shirt and shorts are jazzed up by a chunky necklace and the killer shoes. The heel is low and chunky so it's good for walking around campus.

Shirt: Forever 21 $5.80
Shorts: H&M $17.80

Shoes: TopShop, $20.00 (I got them for $40 :/)

Necklace: Charming Charlie, $13

Hope you guys enjoy and get some back-to-school inspiration through this. I'd loove to see your looks! Comment a link with your look or tag me on instagram, @n_vergak!

LIFESTYLE: FO SHO CLEAN DONUTS

December 13, 2013

I was browsing Bed, Bath & Beyond my mother one day. I didn't direly need anything, however I knew that some friends and bloggers mentioned finding little donut pans there. They are mold for donuts. I loved the idea of getting creative with "clean" donuts. I found a pan, and I made a recipe, and boom! Being the holiday season I found it appropriate to make these pumpkin pie inspired donuts. They're scrumptious as ever and don't have a trace of processed sugar or pumpkin puree. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup almond flour
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup greek yogurt
- 1/4 tbsp baking soda
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 4 packets of stevia
- 1/4 cup almond milk

*these measurements make 6-8

bake at 350 for 20 min, and enjoy these tasty morsels!

Style: These Boots Are Made For Killing It

November 01, 2013

Have you ever acquired a piece of your wardrobe and just had no other words for your excitement but "UGH. I CAN'T"!? Maybe you have other words of excitement that aren't so stereotypical white girl, however these boots just made me speechless. I almost squealed as I saw them scrolling through JustFab.com. I highly recommend you getting your staple riding boots for fall there if you want to look like you broke the bank without actually breaking it. Another reason I'm excited is because I actually somehow misplaced my Aldo riding boots when I moved houses this summer.. maybe it was the movers.. hmmm. (just kidding!)

I'm way too obsessed with the details of these light brown suede beauties. I love that the toe is almost ombre, it is dark to light. I love the buckle detail as well. They fit like a glove and I can easily just slip them on.
They make any outfit sophisticated and are perfect for walking around in fall!

Here, I paired them with jeggings from Delias in a dark wash, a white v neck, a camo button down with jeweled details, and my new favorite gold necklace from BP by Nordstrom. I didn't forget my arm candy, of course.

I'm dying to know, what do your staple boots for fall look like?

Style: The Four-Season Flower

October 16, 2013

I don't know if I share this impulsivity with everyone, but sometimes when I'm browsing the internet and I come across a certain trend or piece of clothing I HAVE to have it! I usually see a piece of clothing out of my price range, so I scour cheaper websites or the sale sections, load up my debit card, and ship it express to my house. My mindset is always, "my style will be all perfect and put together if I have this ONE piece."
So, that happened with designs of daises. I've been seeing daises on everything from dresses to leggings to bralettes. I saw some in the summer, and now they're transitioning through the fall. It's a whole new type of "floral" patterns, and to me, it's the evergreen of florals. It can work through summer, winter, fall, and spring. They work in the warmer months because of the summery colors and design, and it is usually on the back drop of black, so it works in the winter and fall. Jac Vanek has weaved it in effortlessly into her line with Element at PacSun. I adore every piece. Here are two of my favorites:
Daisy skater dress - $44.50
Bralette - $29.50

I adore Jac and her feel-free attitude, it effortlessly flows into her clothes. I will definitely be adding more daisy pieces to my wardrobe, whether they be impulse buys or not. What's your obsession of the moment?

OOTD: PLEATHER AND CAMO

September 18, 2013

Winter and Fall make me want to douse myself in black and leather, however I'm no emo wannabe. I'm just keeping up with the trends, obviously! Last Fall and Winter it was the same deal, and black and leather are making a comeback. I'm bringing it in my my outfit, and my lips are a bright pink for a pop of color.
My outfit made me really happy today. I have a black tee from Forever 21 over my comfy VS Leggings, and over that I have my favorite fake denim and leather jacket from Forever 21. On my feet I'm rocking my favorite camo print shoes from Charlotte Russe. I accesorized the look with a head scarf from Claires and I'm wearing my Kate Moss for Rimmel London lipstick in shade 551.
