RECIPE: PASTRY PARTY FAVORS

September 28, 2015

Some people believe in magic, I believe in pillsbury dough crusts. If you're not totally geeking out about them with me right now, then you just don't understand the full amazing-ness of them. They're little wraps of dough that can turn your favorite fillings into amazing pillows of snack heaven. They're SO customizable and SO delicious. Are you a plain jane? Ham and cheese is for you. Are you an Italian stallion? Pesto and prosciutto is your saving grace. Are you too Greek for your own good (me), then spinach and feta it up!

I could literally go on about those forever, so I'll stop my rant there and continue with the recipe. For my birthday party in late August, I wanted to make some cool appetizers, and I simultaneously had a craving for the combination of veggies, meat, cheese, and pillsbury crusts. From my cravings sprung out 24 of these creations of mine.

I had a vision for one Greek-inspired one and two Italian-inspired ones. I planned on making a pastry with spinach and feta, a pastry with tomato, pesto, and mozzarella, and a pastry with prosciutto and goat cheese. If I had to pick a favorite, it would definitely be the prosciutto and goat cheese one. These are all of my ingredients laid out.

This is your golden ticket: pillsbury crescent rolls.

I put these together like an assembly line. It was the loneliest assembly line ever, an assembly line of one, but I got through. First, I laid out the dough in the triangular format it comes out of the container in. This dough comes in one big rolled up square of dough, and perforated lines creates triangles that can be folded and manipulated to your pleasure.

I then put the filling in the middle. If there is a sauce or pesto I put that first, then the meat or veggies, then the cheese. Next, to folded the triangle edges over the filling so it would bake into a little pastry pocket.

Next, I baked them in a preheated oven until ready.

Ingredients
  • 2 containers of Pillsbury crescent rolls
  • 1 whole tomato
  • 8 slices of mozzarella
  • 8 pieces of proscuitto
  • 8 tbsp of goat cheese
  • 8 tbsp of pesto
  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 8 tbsp feta cheese

Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350
2. Spray two large baking sheets with spray/olive oil
3. Separate the 24 crescent triangles from the perforated sheet and lay them on the baking sheets
4. Place the fillings in the triangles
5. For spinach feta: add spinach and feta in the triangles
6. For goat cheese and prosciutto: add goat cheese and prosciutto in the triangles
7. For tomato and mozzarella: add pesto, one slice of tomato, and one slice of mozzarella to the triangles
8. There should be 8 of each to make 24
9. Fold the rest of the dough triangles over the filling
 10. Once the oven is preheated, bake the pastries for 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Make sure cheese is melted and dough is firm. Enjoy!

Style: Turkey Day OOTD!

November 28, 2013

Happy Thanksgiving lovelies! What are you thankful for? I'm obviously thankful for the supportive people in my life and the new experiences I've been having. I'm for the most part dedicating this holiday season my Nanny and Papa that I lost in March. They were the best story of true love I've ever seen. I thought I'd celebrate Turkey Day by showing you my OOTD!

For my face I did my usual go-to fancy makeup with a smoky eyeshadow look and winged eyeliner.  I brightened up the look with my Rimmel lipstick in "Back to Fuschia."

I'm OBSESSED with this quarter-sleeved dress from Forever 21. It's fitted perfectly with tight at the bottom sleeves and loose shoulder, and it's cinched at the waist for an hourglass shape. I paired it with some white festive lace tights and my brown riding boots. I accessorized with my pandora and Alex and Ani bracelets.

Look at these adorable pumpkin spice cookies I made that look like Turkeys!

Lastly, here's a video I made for my sweet potato casserole recipe. It's clean and delicious. I would definitely try it on your family at Christmas.

both recipes were a huge hit!

EVENT: FIRMOO SPONSORED DANCE PARTY!

April 28, 2013

I've written about Firmoo before, and this is definitely not the last time I will be writing about them! They've been so kind to me. On Saturday, they sponsored a dance I held with my best friend at my local parish by giving me two pairs of sunglasses to give away as prizes! Of course they're stylish as ever - oversized enough to make anyone feel like a movie star at the beach, the movies, or just kicking around this summer. All of the products from Firmoo are movie star quality at affordable prices, however why take those prices when you can get a discount. If you're interested in looking like you're on the silver screen for a discount, go to firmoo.com, pick out any pair of sunglasses and use the code SUNGLASSES4CU at checkout for a 20% discount! Keep in mind the regular lens discount too, and any lenses can be tinted to be made sunglasses!

So, my day was simultaneously fun and productive. After my typical Saturday morning long run, I finally sold my old car and now I can officially call the 2007 Hyundai Accent mine :). Then, I went to Smokey Bones with the girls and headed to the Parish Hall to set up for the event.

During the day I had my topknot in, however I let it out at night to create these loose, bouncy waves and did a small french braid at the top of my head. I went for more of a smoky natural look by filling in my brows, tight lining my water line, doing a brown "ScandalEyes" by Rimmel liner, and thoroughly applying mascara. I finished off the look with a light new blush from Bare Essentials and my handy dandy Maybelline BabyLips in Pink Punch.

We set up the hall with festive spring colors of yellow and green with streamers, balloons, and festive Firmoo Flyers of course!

We didn't have as big of a turnout as we hoped, however we all had tons of fun! I believe that you make do with what you can, and if you have to twerk alone, twerk alone. However we had a blast with riveting rounds of musical chairs and limbo, and our two lucky Firmoo sunglasses winners were chosen.

If you want to look as cool as my lovely mother and friend Justin, please use one of the codes designated on the flyer below to get your discounted pair, but don't forget that new members of the Firmoo site get their first pair FREE! A free pair of sunglasses, and well, anything sure feels good!

Here's some links for Firmoo!

MICHE PURSE PARTY!

February 18, 2013

Saturday was an eventful and interesting day. You may know of companies that sell their products through representatives such as Avon, the Pampered Chef, etc, well my boyfriend's mother is a representative for Miche Purses, and she asked me if I was interested in hosting a party.

Miche purses are unlike any other bag I've seen. There are three sizes - essentially small, medium and large. You choose a size of your "base" which is a basic black bag and handles. However, from there you make it your own. There are hundreds of different "shells" in hundreds of different styles to go over the bases. There's something for everyone. To personalize it even more, there's numerous straps as well! They offer sell wallets, shoes, keychains and more. Details on how to snag your own are at the end of this post!

Once I learned the great benefits of having a party - I was sold! The more of my friends and family that attended bought products, the more products I could earn for free and discounted! So, I invited a few friends over and made some party food this Saturday afternoon.

The look was the day was casual and a bit edgy. I finally got to rock the fringed "California Republic" Tee I got from Pacsun with my grey Kira cardigan from PacSun as well, black Victorias Secret yoga leggings, and my brown combat boots. I went for warm tones on my face, as from light brown eyeshadow to a pinky lip.

Since it's a simple look, I went a little crazy on my arm candy and rocked a vintage watch, a silver and gold bracelet form a Boutique in Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, and my pandora bracelet. Not to mention my chunky F21 rings.

A party with good food is always a succesfull party in my book. I whipped up some fresh guacamole, and also had a spread including fruit, dippable veggies, Tortilla chips, pita chips, greek veggie dip, and roasted red pepper hummus.

She arrived with a few different sized shells and bases, a wallet or two, different straps and chains, and of course order forms and catalogs. After she presented the products, she passed out order forms and catalogs for us to check out.
This is an example of a base.

This is a medium sized bag with a beautiful red shell.

This is a smaller base with an adorable blue shell with a flower detail.
All the happy party-goers and their catalogs!

If you are interested in ordering,  click here! Make sure to get your orders in by Friday. There are hundreds of styles to browse!

Also - my giveaway winner has been announced at the end of my newest YouTube video. It could be you - check it out! :)

NYE Nails!

December 31, 2012

NYE is the night of all things that are sparkly and glittery. It's one of the only nights a year where a girl can wear way too much glitter on one outfit and not be patronized for it - yayy! That doesn't have to stop at the clothes, however. Here's my nail tutorial on how to get my NYE nails:

I went all black and sparkles this year. My look for tonight is a little grunge and a little glamourous. Want to know how to get these nails? Follow these easy steps!
  1. A good thing to do before every self manicure is rub a coat from a cuticle pen onto your nails. I have one from ELF. It fortifies and adds shine to your nails, to reduce wear and tear.
  2. Second, give yourself everyone's favorite part of the in salon manicure - the lotion. Gently massage your hands with any of your favorite fragrant or not fragrant hand lotion - today I use Origin's age-defense moisturizer with white tea.
  3. Now, for the painting. For the base of it all, apply two coats of "Black Tie" by Confetti. (Each polish used today was only $2.36 each found at CVS!)
  4. Next coat is the glitter! The color is a very fun, translucent glitter color by Confetti called "Tazmanian Devil." Apply to all nails only once, or until you like how it looks.
  5. Lastly, the top coat. You can use any you want, however I stuck with the Confetti theme and used theirs, called "Glass Slipper."
My three confetti nail polishes, Origins lotion, and ELF cuticle pen.

There you go, you're ready to show off your va va voom glitter nails tonight! What am I wearing? My sparkly Ya Los Angeles LBD and blazer, black tights, and I haven't decided on my black leather studded ballet flats or black leather ankle boots. Anybody want to help me decide in the comments?

Have a great night and stay safe! If you plan on drinking don't go near your car! However if you find yourself in a pickle and need a ride - AAA is giving your drunk ass a ride home, just call 1-800-222-4537.
